Hi there, everyone!
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Amethyst (yes, that’s my actual name). I’m a creative writer, and I’ve decided to expand my reach. So, here I am.
My Online Writing Journey Before Substack
Before I dive in, this is not the first writing platform I’ve joined, and something tells me it won’t be the last.
A couple of years ago, I signed up for Vocal after seeing an ad for it on social media. But, of course, the initial motivator was making money online.
However, I quickly fell in love with the idea of sharing stories on the Internet and having a community of supportive fellow writers. And less than a year later, I joined Medium.
Why I Joined Substack
As I read various articles on Medium, I noticed many creators also had a Substack account. And other articles mentioned it as a great way to reach more people and earn extra income.
I was hesitant for a while.
For one, I didn’t have an email list to move to Medium or Substack. And I know how important it is.
For another, I wouldn’t say I like sticking to just one writing niche. Because while my primary focus is fiction, I also enjoy writing personal stories, product reviews, etc. I’ve even been dabbling in poetry a bit more.
Unfortunately, a lot of writers believe you need to hone in on one niche or topic to be successful, deterring me from doing this earlier.
But lately, I’ve been looking for ways to improve and expand my writing. So, I decided to ignore them and give this a shot.
What are My Goals on Substack?
Well, while I want to make money here and intend to do so, I know I need to focus on building my audience. Because you need that to get anywhere.
So that’s what I will do. But I know I’ll need help with that from all of you.
Then, I’ll work on making this a new income source.
What to Expect from Me
As I said earlier, I write for multiple niches and have published stories and articles on two other platforms. So, you’ll see most of those stories for a while.
And yes, many of them are creative in nature.
However, I do plan on writing content that will be published only on Substack. But that content will not likely be fiction since Vocal is my main one for fiction.
It will probably be how-to’s and advice for writing and other things, but we’ll see.
To Wrap Things Up
So, yes, I’m now on Substack to share my writing voice with you, and now that you know what I’m all about, I hope you will be a part of that.
