Crafting.
It’s not something I often partake in, as it is not a natural bend for me talent-wise. But there is one type of craft that anyone can do in their free time.
Diamond painting.
Interesting name, I know, but it’s not with real diamonds. So, let’s dive into the world of this craft!
What is Diamond Painting?

It’s putting tiny plastic “diamond” beads onto a sticky canvas. Each color has a number assigned to it and a correlating symbol on the canvas (numbers, letters, symbols).
You can compare it to paint by numbers; only you don’t have to mix colors to get the exact shade you need for the picture.
I’ve done paint-by-numbers before, and trust me, it’s tedious, especially if painting isn’t second nature for you and you don’t think to paint right up to the edges of the spot you’re painting.
So, DP is an excellent middle ground.
How I Came Across Diamond Painting

My mom had bought herself a diamond painting set a while back, as she is into that type of stuff and searching for new things to experiment with.
As I watched her work on her kitchen witch canvas (which she still hasn’t finished), I became increasingly interested in trying it out and mentioned it to her a couple of times.
Unlike a lot of crafting styles, diamond painting tells you where to put each of the colors, alleviating much of the stress I often get when doing any type of crafting.
My First Diamond Painting Project
It was a Christmas present in 2022.
Apparently, my mom had been listening because I got a pack of sticky canvases, each with a correlating pack of “diamond” beads, which have a flat bottom so they can adhere to the canvas.
I was excited to try it out for myself. Especially since the pictures had lovely colors. So, I began working on my first canvas as soon as possible.
What I Thought About It
It’s quite a relaxing activity to do at home when you have nothing but time to kill.
And because most of my life goals deal with the long game, it was nice having a new non-social media form of instant gratification. Because I can’t trim boxwoods and blackberry vines all year around.
You are also creating art that you can either keep, give to someone as a gift, or even sell. I plan on gifting a few when I do them.
What Supplies You’ll Need

Like with any crafting project, you’ll need to have some supplies for diamond painting after you buy a pack like this one.
So, purchasing a diamond painting kit is always a great idea. It comes with the basics you’ll need for any diamond painting project.
You should also consider getting a sealer to make sure your beads don’t fall off once you’re finished, a roller for the same reason, and a lightboard for your projects as you progress.
And once you get your initial supplies, it doesn’t cost much to do.
So Clear Some Space!
On your kitchen counter, a desk, or even on your table.
It does not matter where you diamond paint as long as you have a flat surface and adequate lighting. Also, a place to store your project when you’re not working on it if you can’t dedicate one space for it all the time.
So, give this hobby a try.
I’m sure you’ll grow to enjoy it as much as I have.
